MYANMAR – Acting President Duwa Lashi La of the National Unity Government (NUG) on June 14 urged the ethnic political organisations and education organisations to cooperate to establish the Interim Federal Education Council (iFEC).
Mr. Duwa Lashi La mentioned the need to build a federal education system alongside the hopes of the people to build a federal democratic union and that now is the time of united attempts to change the system to the federal system that allows equal rights to all ethnic races.
He also highlighted the importance of all ethnic people working together in forming the federal education system without being centered around a single individual or organisation and stressed to effectively implement the federal democracy education policies.
He added that he hopes that the iFEC will conduct its works with mutual respect and allowing each federal unit freedom to manage their own education systems.
In addition, just as there is self determination in politics, there is also a need for fully independent self determination in education and the education systems in the federal union need to be connected and cooperate, remarked the acting president.
