JAPAN – The terrorist junta-controlled Myanmar Embassy in Japan announced on December 21 that it shall collect monthly income tax for migrant workers in Japan.
According to the announcement, Myanmar people working in Japan who earn an average monthly income of ¥200,000 will be taxed as ¥4,000 with entitlement of ¥2,000 as relief. Those with an average income of less than ¥200,000 will have to pay ¥3,000 each month with entitlement of ¥1,000 as relief.
The junta’s Ministry of Planning and Finance had cancelled the income tax exemption on the salaries of expatriate Burmese citizens starting October 1.
The announcement included that paying income tax is assisting the activities such as education, health, transportation and public services and so on, and those who paid the income tax were entitled for relief in purchasing real estate and cars, with tax receipts.Moreover, the coup regime-controlled embassies in countries such as Singapore, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand announced in December that migrant workers abroad have to pay two percent of the salary they earned.
