MYANMAR – The terrorist junta council is said to be planning to raise the registration and inspection fees for motorcycles and cars by three times, to up to 150,000 Kyats.
The junta Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) announced that the current fees need to be updated, citing increased wages, an increased number of vehicles, and an increased value of vehicles. In addition, RTAD said that as the fees for driver’s licenses were also raised in 2018, they will be similarly raising the license fees in order to prevent harm to state finances.
The notice by RTAD states that the fees regarding vehicle registration have been intended to be increased by three times the current rate and asks for remarks on the issue as well as suggestions for other similar items that require readjustment to match with the times by September 13.
“It is said that RTAD fees will be raised by three times. I’ve heard that the official notice will be issued by the 13th or by the end of this month,” said a source close to RTAD.
