MYANMAR – Duwa Lashi La, Acting President of National Unity Government (NUG) shared information to People on Friday (June 30) what he pronounced on the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence for about trying to receive the international judgement upon the sexual violences committed by Myanmar military junta.
Acting President stated that he will continuously perform to have justice during transition period and protect with effective laws and policies for eliminating the sexual violence.
The Ministry of Women, Youths and Children Affairs and Ministry of Human Rights under NUG released the joint statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence, June 19, describing of the complaints about 117 cases of sexual violence occurred starting from the military coup until this year, 2023, June 15.
Among the stated cases, 51 of them have been confirmed and another 66 which are difficult to confirm are included. 108 cases were committed by the junta council and the rest 9 cases were committed between civilians. Then, there were also 13 cases being committed by the revolutionary forces.
In the joint statement of two ministries, they declared to charge justly upon every cases which had been committed onto the civilians and between civilians.
