BAGO DIVISION – Locals stated that the junta forces and junta’s administration officers cooperated to abduct the staff participated in Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and extorted from them by threatening in Padaung Township, Pyay District, Bago (West) Division.
Starting from the second week of June, the junta forces were said to accelerate abduction and extortion and they searched two persons every night. If they could not find the wanted persons, they forcibly abducted family members and even bashed to them in case the family member is man.
“The junta forces extorted from the detainees. We heard they extorted around Tens of millions. They extorted from everyone including civilians that they could abduct. We also figured out that they tried to plot not to go along military frontline. The junta’s administration officer acted like he didn’t know anything and pointed to the related houses by himself,” one of the Padaung locals elaborated.
During the junta’s abduction, 10 Houses Group Elder and 100 Houses Group Elder cooperated with the junta thugs with three military vehicles, and they even searched the relatives’ houses at the same nights if they could not find the wanted person at the described address.
Moreover, more than five CDM staff have been searched within one week and two students have been detained in the last three days ago. Those detainees have been facing difficulties since the junta forces reportedly extorted one to tens of millions MMK from them before imprisonment.
Due to the current injustice abduction, CDM staff and some people being able to abduct are said to run away from their houses in advance.
In addition, most of the warrant persons have been accused of charges such as accomplice in killings, CDM, support, armed weapons, selling weapons and killings.
Furthermore, the junta council opened the case with 505 (A) charge to one teacher who returned to serve the junta council as non-CDM staff from CDM, living in Paungde Town, Pyay District on March 27.
