YANGON DIVISION – From the end of March, the Terrorist War Council will start calling those who have been selected to serve in the military to proceed medical examination. People say that the ward administrators are pressuring and threatening to prepare their things.
Starting from March 27th, young people who have been selected for military service have been notified to come to the respective military bases for medical examination. It was learned that according to the ward and village, the date of medical examination is different.
“On our side, it is notified that March 27th, some neighborhoods have to come to the relevant district administration office for a medical examination on March 28th. The ward administration warned that all personal items must be taken with them. In the following months, people who have been selected by ballots will have to go, so they told people who are already registered, those who have not yet been selected by drawing lots, and those who have already been chosen not to run away. If they run away, their families may be in trouble. They also told them to prepare their bags,” said a young parent who lives on the school street of North Dagon.
In addition, even in Yangon, the Junta Council arrests and examines young people on the streets at night. At night, the junta council’s group goes up to the houses and checks the guest list, requesting registration arresting some young people who could not show their registration, and those who are not in the guest list. They are being recruited into the military service and are being detained.
“Ward administrator asked for registration. If they can’t show that, they are asked to join the army. When they arrive in the army, they will have to register. They’re forced to join the service for 2 years. They said you don’t need to fight in front line and only need to perform security duty. Afterwards, I couldn’t deny it, so my child agrees to go,” the father of a young man who was arrested by the recruitment force in Mingaladon said.
Young people are required to attend military training and junta will start recruiting as soldiers at the end of April to early May, under the law of military service, by the War on Terrorism Council.
