SAGAING DIVISION – Military Region No. 1 announced that 34 junta soldiers were killed and weapons and ammunition were seized in the battle of Kanhtooma Police Station and when the junta reinforcement column heading to Kanhtooma Police Station in Taze Township was intercepted and attacked.
A junta column of around 105 soldiers from light infantry 361 and Pyu Saw Htee militants that came from Taze Town to reinforce Kanhtooma Police Station on February 21 was attacked to the west of Wahrange Village and near Khayanchan Village by No. 1 Shwebo District Command, Shwebo District Battalion and Taze Township People’s Defence Organisation, killing ten junta forces and injuring nine more.
In addition around 50 junta forces from light infantry 11 and 708 that came out of Kanhtooma Village were also attacked by No. 1 Shwebo District Command and Shwebo District battalions near Peakhingyi Village, killing six junta forces and injuring seven more.
Similarly, No. 1 Shwebo District Command attacked and captured Kanhtooma Police Station, stationed by around 30 junta forces from police battalion 16 and light infantry 361 as well as Pyu Saw Htee militants on February 21, killing 11 junta forces and injuring 17.
During the above mentioned battle, a member of the People’s Defence Force honourably fell in battle and five G3 guns, four hand grenades, 1,635 MA-15 bullets, 12 cartridges and 38 lakhs in cash were seized from the junta forces.
During the battle for Kanhtooma Police Station, the terrorist junta council is said to have carried out 23 aerial attacks using the fighter jets, Y12 planes and Mi35 helicopters from Tada U, Namhsan, North West Command, Taungoo and Nay Pyi Taw and junta forces were reported to have torched and destroyed Kanhtooma Village.
On the other hand, Shwebo District battalions attacked around 80 Pyu Saw Htee thugs and junta forces from light infantry 11 and 708 to the north of Kanhtooma Village police station, killing seven junta soldiers and injuring 15 on February 22 and 23.
