BAGO DIVISION – The junta soldiers are unlawfully extorting money from the people who passed by the 4 Mile checkpoint on Taungoo-Than Taung Road, according to the locals.
“The puppet soldiers of the junta have been extorting money from the pedestrians since last April 24. They robbed money from the people by telling lies such as ‘the money is for the refugees’,” said a local woman of Than Taung.
In addition, a 50-year-old man was abducted along with his motorcycle for not having a licence at Than Taung-Taungoo checkpoint during the last week of April and he still has not been released although his family members went to pick him up with 4 million Myanmar Kyats ransom as the junta force said.
There have been 17 people whose money had been extorted by the junta soldiers at 4 Mile gate and three were abducted and 3 of them were still not released yet.
Although there were some investigations against the pedestrians at 4 Mile and 7 Mile checkpoints in April, the junta soldiers are now committing more crimes such as extorting money and abducting the people.
