MYANMAR – The National Unity Government (NUG) announced that it will be selling the plots seized by the junta council in Pyin Oo Lwin in order to raise funds for the revolution against the junta dictator.
Thousands of acres worth of junta council seized land and buildings in Pyin Oo Lwin area will be taken back to implement the Nway Oo Pyin Oo Lwin Project for the public, announced the End of Dictatorship – EOD, a fundraising program by NUG.
EOD stated that the Nway Oo Pyin Oo Lwin Project aims to implement urban development plans such as educational services, tourism and hill resort and organic agriculture in the post revolution period.
In addition, remaining suitable plots of land will be up for sale and the details will be announced at a later date.
“We will be selling residential plots. We are returning the properties in May Myo (Pyin Oo Lwin) that were illegally seized by the junta army to the people,” commented Deputy Minister Min Zayar Oo of NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment (MOPFI).
“Before selling a plot of land, we have to go over its historical records, to check if it was forcibly seized by the army, if there are previous civilian owners and if the land is free of legal disputes,” explained the deputy minister.
EOD has been continuously selling residential plots and shares in urban projects on the land taken by junta leaders in Yangon and Mandalay as fundraising programs for the revolution.
Currently, such programs have raised over 100 million USD, according to the MOPFI deputy minister.
