CHIN STATE – Clashes between revolutionary forces and junta troops continue in Tonzang, with the junta council conducting multiple airstrikes. According to the Tonzang Public Administration Body, these airstrikes have resulted in significant destruction and displacement.
On Tuesday, May 21, starting around 5 a.m., the junta forces initiated at least 40 airstrikes. The strikes destroyed over 30 civilian homes in Khaw Wone Lay San Residential Ward of Tonzang Downtown, as well as over 10 houses, including a church, in Lone Tat and Hpine Tu Villages.
The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) has increased dramatically, and efforts are ongoing to assist elders and civilians who are struggling to flee.
