MYANMAR – Daung, an actor, announced that he donated the proceeds from the auction of a brooch as the commemoration of the birthday of the State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, to six places in need, including the IDP (internally displaced people) camps.
Daung Art Corner Facebook page where the auction was held stated that “all of the proceeds from the auction have been donated to the IDP camps in Karenni State, the IDP camps in the central region, and to support some necessities of the PDF comrades. I am very happy to be able to help the places in need on behalf of the civilians who are resisting the junta council with an amount that I didn’t expect.”
He auctioned off the Myanmar map brooch that he wore when he was attending the Thailand Film Academy Award, at Daung Art Corner Facebook page on June 18, to commemorate the birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi which fell on June 19.
The brooch was auctioned for 11 million MMK and a total of over 20 million MMK was raised when combined with the additional donations from the civilians. He donated all of the money to six places in need.
He appealed to the civilians that “in some parts of the country, the civilians are still in trouble and the support is still needed. So, I would like to appeal to the public not to forget the people who are in trouble and appeal to assist them as much as you can.”
Daung, the actor, has stood with the people and has participated in the revolutionary movements to fight against the junta council, since the coup. He participates in the revolution by selling souvenirs and acting in short films for the revolution.
