AYEYARWADDY DIVISION: As the ministers appointed by the junta’s council had a visit to Danubyu and Ngathaingchaung, Ayeyarwaddy division on December 29, the security in the region was reportedly tightened and the stalls by the roads were forced to close, as said by the local people.
The junta’s ministers visited Ngathaingchaung on December 29, the inspection was performed throughout the city and the civilians were forced to clean their neighbourhoods.
A local resident of Ngathaingchaung said, “The minister of the division or the state minister would pay a visit, the security at the entrances of the city was tightened and the passerbys were reportedly inspected by the soldiers. The houses by the roads were forced to clean their houses and neighbourhoods. The policemen and soldiers were seen patrolling throughout the city. The stalls by the roads were also forced to close during the visit of the ministers.”
As the minister of Ayeyarwaddy Division appointed by the junta’s council would attend the opening ceremony of the new road in Danubyu, the security in the region was reportedly tightened and the stalls by the roads were forced to close down, as said by the local resident.
“In Danubyu, the authority concerned was known to attend the opening ceremony of the new roads, the stalls by the roads were forced to shut down. The police were seen patrolling around the city. Before now, the security in the region is not as tight as the present day but these days, cars motorcycles are closely being inspected,” said the local.
As there were the authority concerns of the division level would pass the road at the west of Yaykyi – Ngathaingchaung, Pathein district on the morning of December 28, the members of the junta’s forces were patrolling around the city by cars and motorcycles.
