KACHIN STATE – The junta forces which have been launching an offensive at Nan Mar Town, Mohnyin Township, recklessly fired heavy artillery shells, killing one civilian and forcing many others to flee.
Around 50 junta troops have been raiding Nant Saw Law and Taung Inn in Nan Mar Town and recklessly fired heavy artillery shells from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday (May 12), killing one civilian.
“They have been firing at Nant Saw Law and Taung Inn since around 7 a.m. They would fire several rounds, take a break then fire more rounds again. One of those shells dropped on a house in Yan Aung Residential Ward, killing one man,” said a resident.
The victim is Mr. Sein Win, in his fifties, who lived in Yan Aung Residential Ward in Nan Mar Town.
Civilians from Nant Saw Law and Taung Inn are said to be fleeing because the junta soldiers have been launching an offensive and firing heavy artillery shells. “The junta soldiers have been launching an offensive for three days. We haven’t heard of any clashes occurring. They just recklessly fired. The situation is not that bad on the west side of the railway but civilians from the east side are fleeing,” said a resident.
One civilian was killed and another two were also wounded because of the junta artillery shells and the details are being investigated.
