SHAN STATE – Due to discrepancy during an audit at the junta council’s Namhsan Air Base resulting from the corruption of the higher-ups, Sergeant Myint Oo was made a scapegoat and forced to take the blame. The sergeant then committed suicide by hanging, reported military sources.
“A soldier hanged himself last night (June 15) and was buried today (June 16) by the motor vehicle department. Sergeant Myint Oo has not been transferred here for long. He reportedly hanged himself after discrepancy in accounts during the audit,” said a source.
It is said that it has not been that long since Sergeant Myint Oo was transferred to Namhsan Air Base. The fraudulent accounts by former officers before his transfer have caused discrepancy in fuel account, cash account, machinery account and maintenance account, and that reportedly pushed him to commit suicide.
“The previous officers all falsified the accounts to cover up their corruption. He was made to take all the blame as he couldn’t present the accounts. The higher-ups had stolen from all the accounts in the motor vehicle department and forced the blame on him,” said the military source.
