ANGOLA – It has been reported that Hon. Madam Veneranda Lemos, speaker of the National Assembly of Timor Leste, added in her speech that Timor Leste will continue to protect the democratic rules of Myanmar, in the 147th International Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly which was held in Angola.
She also called the IPU to make a decision to show that IPU stands with the people of Myanmar as while they (the parliamentarians) were discussing about the peace and the democracy in the assembly, the peace and justice of over thousands of Burmese people; including the women and children, were affected by the military regime.
The people of Myanmar are being oppressed and threatened every day. The Myanmar civilians are still fighting against the junta council for their basic rights. She continued that the international community haven’t taken any strong actions against the military regime for the Burmese people. So, the IPU should take strong actions against the junta council for its civilians.
During the IPU assembly which was held between October 23 to 27, the Myanmar Parliamentary Delegation have met with the Timor Leste Parliamentary Delegation and they have had a friendly discussion about the current situation in Myanmar and the possibility of the cooperation between Myanmar parliament and Timor Leste parliament.
Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) issued a statement that CRPH expressed its special thanks to Timor Leste Government, Parliament and the people of Timor for helping and standing with them in the difficult time.
