MYANMAR – The leader of Pattanikkozzina Strike (a form of protest unique to Buddhist monks) from Chaung U Township, Ven. Silavuda, urged the monks across the country to stand together with the people and carry out Pattanikkozzina Strike against the junta regime by refusing donations and invitations from members of the junta council.
He stated that it is unforgivable how the junta council troops shot dead the head monk of Winnammaitaryon Monastery and requested the monks in the country to carry out the Pattanikkozzina Strike for justice and end of military dictatorship.
“We will carry out the strike till the end of the revolution. It is now time to show the unity of the monks. All the monks across the time should now stand with the people. We aim to win this. It is unforgivable how they (junta regime) said sorry after killing the venerable monk,” said Ven. Silavuda.
The monks from Chaung U Township and the monks from Tabayin Township carried out Pattanikkozzina Strike against the junta council on June 23 and 24 respectively. The strike means all the monks unitedly decided to cease all interactions with the junta council.
