NORTHERN SHAN STATE – Residents say that the TNLA has taken over all the departmental offices, including the Police station, and court, and that the city has been controlled by the revolutionary forces in Nawngkio city.
Yesterday, on June 25th, starting at 5:30 in the morning, the revolutionary forces, including the TNLA, launched an offensive in Nawngkio Township. The military council army and the Taang Army TNLA clashed in Kyauk Khyan village, Nawnghkio district, and the military council air force dropped 4 bombs with a fighter plane. After the TNLA attacked the Khmer 115 regiment of the terrorist army in Nawngkio city and 3 places where the army was stationed in Nawngkio city, some places in the town were also captured.
“There are only 3 places where military dogs are stationed in Nawngkio. They are the military veterans’ office called Pyu Saw Htee Office, the Metrology 2 Office, and the police station. Now there are no military dogs in those 3 offices. They have all fled. The revolutionary forces and the TNLA have taken control of the town. There are revolutionary forces in the township hall and shops in the town,” said a resident of Nawngkio.
Today, June 25th, starting at 5:00 a.m., military council troops have been firing heavy weapons into the center of Nawngkio city, and the weapons are exploding at the Nawnghkio township hospital.
It is reported that firing was also heard from the side of the junta council’s regiments number 114, 115 and 606 Missile Battalion, and the TNLA is still attacking these battalions.
“Light Infantry Battalions 114 and 115 are near the Nawnghkio signboard on the Mandalay entry side. The 606 Missile Battalion is on the entrance road of Gok Teik Bridge, on Nawngkio Lawksawk Road. On the side of the troops, the battle continues,” the local people explained.
Recently, the TNLA and revolutionary forces have entered Kyaukme and occupied some police stations and departmental offices. Local people say that there is a possibility that the fighting will continue to intensify.
