MYANMAR – The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) stated that the military junta has been murdering innocent civilians since after the coup and 4,124 people have fallen according to the data till September 27, 2023.
It is stated that according to the data collected by the AAPP from February 1, 2021, to September 27, 2023, 19,278 people are being unjustly detained and 7,382 of them have been sentenced to prison.
Among those who have been sentenced, 107 people were sentenced to death. 119 people were sentenced in absentia including 43 people were sentenced to death in absentia. According to these data, a total of 150 people were sentenced to death.
24 people were released on bail and the total number of releases is said to be 5,572.
The described numbers are the data collected by the AAPP and the actual numbers on the ground can be higher. AAPP added that they will update the numbers if more information is collected.
It is also stated that those who have information, about the leaders of civil society organizations, civilians, activists, journalists and CDM staff from various sectors being abducted, or detained, or charged, and those who have been murdered during the Spring Revolution, can contact and inform AAPP.
