SAGAING DIVISION- In Yinmarpin District, Pale Township, the National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and the Western Chindwin Association (WCA) reportedly donated money and food to the people fleeing the war on Tuesday, August 7.
According to WCA’s statement on August 9, the volunteers donated 500,000 kyats in cash, meat, fish, cooking oil, and spices/seasoning powder to displaced persons in Thadin, Minma, and Ywarthit villages in Pale Township.
“Donations were made to 4,500 displaced people who were sheltering at four refugee camps in Pale Township,” said Mr. Sopyay Mindin, in charge of the Western Chindwin Association (WCA).
“The war refugees suddenly had to leave their homes and flee. The junta soldiers not only raided the villages such as Nawyoe and Hlawkar but also entered the refugee camps and looted food, household furniture, crops, and even jewelry. The people avoiding the emergency war are unable to carry enough supplies, so they are facing a shortage of food. Thus, meat, spices, cooking oil, and some money were donated to assist them,” he continued.
It is reported that some locals have returned home as the junta column that raided Pale Township left for Yinmapin town on Wednesday morning (August 8).
That Junta column that left Kyaynin Village, Pale Township, reportedly arrived at Yinmapin Township, somewhere in between Lalngout and Thayetkan villages, at around 8:50 a.m., according to WCA.
