KARENNI STATE- The Karenni Human Rights Group has announced that the military council’s column burned down more than 40 houses in three villages in the Hpruso township of Karenni (Kayah) state.
From August 24th to 26th, more than 30 houses in Htee Poso village, 10 houses in Dawnyekhu Village and some houses in Htee Thawku village were burnt down.
In addition, after few minutes the military council dropped 2 bombs on 4 places in the west of Demoso on the night of August 25th, Light Infantry Battalion (LIB)-102 fired 2 times with 120 MM at 10:32p.m., 2 rockets at 10:38 p.m., one 120MM at 10:41p.m. and 2 rockets at 10:49 p.m., total 7 heavy weapons were fired.
It is reported that 2 residential houses and a school were damaged, and since the morning of August 26th, the military council troops have burned down at least 10 houses in Dawnyekhu village.
Similarly, on August 24th and 25th, at least 30 of the 60 houses in Htee Poso Village, Hpruso Township, were burned down.
Since the beginning of August of this year, there have been continuous battles between the military council army and the Karenni defense forces along the Demoso and Hpruso roads. The Karenni Human Rights Group has announced that junta army fired heavy weapon to civilians and homes were being burned down.
In Karenni (Kayah) state, since the military coup until July 31, 2023, there have been 766 battles between the military council and the Karenni defense forces, and the military council has carried out 572 airstrikes. The Progressive Karenni People’s Force (PKPF) announced on August 1 that 1,639 homes and 39 religious buildings were destroyed.
