KACHIN STATE- A KIA frontline source told the media that a Junta fighter jet that was shot by KIA in the tail at the Tarmakhan battle was a K-8W type aircraft.
Starting from the evening of February 26, in Hpakant Township, KIA-led revolutionary forces attacked the strategic hill of the Infantry Battalion- 119 and the police station in Tarmakhan village. Air support and heavy weapons were fired by the military council as they were facing losses. It is said that the army bombarded the entire village of Tarmakhan with at least 4 fighter jets on February 27 and the KIA returned fire hit one of the fighter jets (in the tail).
“The aircraft was a light fighter K-8W. It was hit in the tail but not crashed,” said the source from the KIA front line.
KIA forces had shot down the Mi35 helicopter of the Military Council on May 3, 2021, between the new town of Momauk and Kone Law. It is also said that on January 3, 2024, the Military Council’s Mi-17 helicopter bringing food and weapons from Myitkyina Air Force Base to Naphawt Camp in Winemaw Township was shot down. Similarly, last January 16, in Kutkai Township, Northern Shan Region, KIA shot down and destroyed the Chinese-made FTC 2000 G fighter jets that bombed the Namphatka village area.
