KARENNI STATE – The terrorist junta regime has forcibly announced that the residents of Hpasawng Town must leave their homes and the town, according to the Karenni Civil Society Organizations.
The junta regime has increased its reinforcements since the third week of June and also has been patrolling in the town as well as carrying out offensive attacks in Hpasawng and Mese towns.
“The atrocious junta forces announced on June 18 that there would soon be a war and to leave the town. They said that, if you don’t want to die, leave the town immediately. The main reason is that they want to be stationed in urban areas,” said a resident of Hpasawng.
At present, there was no fighting in Hpasawng Town, but only in the villages between Hpasawng and Mese towns.
“The junta’s Infantry Battalion – 135 based in Hpasawng Township was reportedly combated by drone strikes on June 20, and some of the terrorist junta soldiers were killed. It was concluded that they want to prepare military operations in the whole town, as they are afraid of being attacked to their base and forced the residents to leave the town,” said a Karenni military source.
He continued that the junta’s Infantry Battalion – 134 and 135 based in Hpasawng Township, which have around 5,000 population, and due to the current military situation, about 300 additional junta soldiers have been reinforced.
“The military situation in Hpasawng Township shall be intense. On last Sunday (June 18), residents were ordered to leave the town by the junta regime. I assume that there will be more airstrike attacks,” explained the official of Karenni Civil Society Network (KCSN).
However, he also said that the residents of Hpasawng Town have not yet known where to flee. Fighting has also been going on in Mese Town, which is adjacent to Hpasawng Township, and about 4,000 people have been forced to flee to Thailand territory.
