MYANMAR: Essential Emergency Items donated by the donors from some foreign countries were said to have been provided to the internally displaced people from Banmauk, Sagaing Division by the local philanthropic organisations.
Essential emergency items including foodstuffs and some household utensils were reportedly provided to each family of over 100 internally displaced families on May 26, as said by a person performing volunteer services. There were reportely about 3000 displaced people in Banmauk.
Comrades of People’s Defence Forces reportedly performed the security services while the internally displaced people were being provided the essential emergency items.
The township level responsible people of the National Unity Government of Myanmar also provided the assistance.
The People’s Defence Forces took control over many villages in Banmauk township. Though the junta’s battalions could not station in town, they have stationed in some of the offices and religious buildings and prepared for the defence war.
Local people said that the members of junta forces repeatedly spread the hate speech against Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and People’s Defence Forces (PDF) to Shan Ni ethnic people residing in the region to recruit.
Moreover, a lance corporal from No.(8) Light Infantry Unit under No.(77) Light Infantry Division stationing in the compound of Myanandar monastery in Banmauk reportedly returned to the legal fold under Banmauk Township People’s Defence Force on May 24.
