MYANMAR – KNU (Karen National Union) issued a statement saying that as the fascist junta council conducted aerial bombardments and fired heavy weapons over the villages in Bilin township, Mon state and over the villages in Hpa-An township, Karen state, two civilians were injured and more than 10 houses were damaged.
At around 5:50 p.m. on February 15, the fascist junta council troops from the light infantry battalion 208 in Hpa-An township opened six rounds of heavy weapon shellings. As one of the shellings landed near the house owned by Saw Kyaw Mu Htu who lived in Yay aye (Noelawpalaw) village, 38-years-old Nawsewar and 58-years-old Nawmapyar were hit by the shellings. The houses owned by Sawtharshi, Saw Maung Han Thein, Saw Kyaw Mu Htu, Saw Mwe Hpi, Saw Lae Doe and Naw Ki Ki were also damaged due to the junta council firing heavy weapons.
As the fascist junta council troops from the light infantry battalion 208 which based in Kamarmaung town intentionally fired the heavy weapons over the civilian places in KNU – Hap-An territory, there were civilian casualties and the civilian houses, religious buildings, the farms and the crops were also damaged.
Moreover, at around 1:40 p.m. on February 14, the inhumane junta council fired machine guns over Wintarpan village using aircraft. Due to the attack, the houses owned by Tiwathar, Yarmalay, Saw Kyaw Ye Htet, Hpakaratpa, Naw Wine Wine, Tidar, and Timaungchit were damaged.
Due to the junta council’s airstrikes, the civilians from Wintarpan village are living in fear and some of the villagers are fleeing to safety.
