MON STATE – According to a front-line source, three members of the revolutionary forces were killed in a battle between the military council forces and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint column near the plywood factory, Alu Lay village, Bilin Township, on September 4 at 8 a.m.
A battle took place when the junta council started firing heavy weapons while KNLA joint forces were waiting to intercept the junta council convoy that was going to Myawady along the Bago-Mawlamyine highway.
An official of the United Revolutionary Forces said, “I don’t know how the junta side got the news. They shot with a heavy weapon first. The condition of the casualties on them is not yet known. Currently three comrades fell from our side. As more reinforcements came from the junta side, our forces retreated because we were outnumbered. That’s all we know at the moment,” he said.
During the fighting, the junta’s reinforcements arrived and the tanks accompanied in it fired again with heavy weapons, causing the residents of nearby villages, including Alu village, to flee, and the vehicles passing by on the Bago-Mawlamyine road were temporarily stopped, a resident of Alu village said.
