CHIN STATE – A person helping the war displaced people in Mindat Township said that one more person died of diarrhoea on June 23, and added up to three in total now. 12 people are also infected with the disease, thus the villages are under lockdown condition.
“There is still a cholera epidemic in Mindat Township. One person died again on June 23 and 12 others people have been infected, and one of the villages in the District 10 has been under lockdown now. According to the doctor who went to the place for giving treatment said that, it is a highly contagious cholera disease. A total of 3 people have died due to diarrhoea in Mindat. In Paletwa side, 12 people died at the beginning of last month,” he said.
Although there is not a complete shortage of medicines, it is not possible to transport them freely. There are a lot of difficulties faced when purchasing the medicines, said the person helping the displaced.
At present, there have been more than ten thousands war displaced civilians in Mindat Township. According to the officials, the number of IDPs is also increasing due to the battle to seize Matupi and the military situation in Mindat.
“They are in need of food, and have not yet received enough aid for medicine,” said the person who’s providing assistance to the IDPs in Mindat Township.
