MANDALAY DIVISION – Following the revolutionary forces’ attack on the junta council’s Ingyin Myaing Air Defense Base, intense battles broke out in eastern Madaya Township and near Mandalay-Mogok Road starting on the morning of June 25.
The junta council is also reinforcing its numbers and around 20 trucks of soldiers headed out from Mandalay in the afternoon on the same day, according to revolutionary forces.
Revolutionary forces launched an attack on the junta air defense base in Ingyin Myaing, Madaya around 4 a.m. on June 25 and the junta council responded by sending thousands of its forces to eastern Madaya.
In addition, the junta air force from Tada U Air Base also carries out airstrikes near Ingyin Myaing Base.
“There was another airstrike past 12 noon. The battle is still ongoing. Junta forces are also making moves in the town,” said a resident.
Fighting had been intense since the morning and as junta forces stationed at the villages in Madaya Township were moving to reinforce the eastern part of the township via Madaya-Mandalay Road, there were at least three battles in the area.
Junta vehicles on the road were also targeted with mine blasts and the junta council reportedly blocked off the entrances and exits of Madaya.
The information officer of Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defence Organisation said that the details of the battles cannot be made public yet due to security reasons.
In Madaya, students were sent back home and the residents said that the junta council is gathering its troops in the area to maintain control of the town.
It is said that battles are still intense at present as the junta council conducts airstrikes and tries to reinforce its numbers and the revolutionary forces try to cut off junta reinforcement.
