MANDALAY DIVISION – It was reported from local residents that junta appointed ward administration officers announced on loud speakers that people who live in some urban wards in Mandalay must register the guest lists.
The announcement was made after the news of an attack on the central military command based in Mandalay Palace with missiles early December 21 morning.
“Register guest lists today or it’s your own responsibility, announced with loud speakers for some time,” said a resident in Pyigyidagun Township.
In the past, there were only notices sent through hundred households chiefs or ten households chiefs to register guest lists. There was no such announcement with loud speakers.
“It means if we don’t register we’ll get arrested,” a resident in Chanmya Tharsi Township said.
Guest registration was revived following the coup, and ward administration offices under military regime also collect money from people who register guest lists.
On December 21 morning at 2:30 a.m., the central military command based in Mandalay Palace was attacked with missiles according to the statement by No More Dictatorship People’s Defence Force- NMD while the junta side refuted the news.
