YANGON DIVISION- Some of the victims reported to the media that each of them was scammed for 30 lakhs each, for a total of 1500 lakhs from fifty victims.
Immortal Friends Company, which is an overseas employment agency open with official approval from the Military Council, has scammed fifty people by saying that they would send them to Malaysia with jobs, since last year (2023). The office in Bahan Township was closed in January 2024 and the director and employers ran away.
“They asked for 30 million per person in March of last year, saying they would send us to Malaysia. Until now, they have not been sent anywhere. They asked me for MMK 15 million after a medical examination in March 2023. Then I was sent back to my hometown. In March, I was asked to undergo a medical examination again. The medical examination was at the Shwe Bonsan Clinic. There were about 50 people. Since last month, there has been no office. It was closed down and we were scammed,” said a victim of financial fraud from Pyaybwe Township.
The defrauded foreign employment agency was operated by Mr. Sai Naing Tun, under the official approval of the Junta’s Ministry of Labor.
“Calling the police won’t make a difference. By reporting to the media, we want them to return our money and passports quickly,” said a defrauded citizen.
The media tried to contact Immortal Friends Company but was unable to get in touch.
