MAGWAY DIVISION – Locals reported that the villages in the western part of Pakokku Township were submerged by the overflow of Nat Inn River due to two consecutive days of heavy rain by Cyclone Mocha.
On May 13 and 14, due to the Cyclone Mocha that centered and crossed to Sittway City, the villages in the western part of Pakokku Township were flooded by continuous rains and the rising of water level of Nat Inn River in Kanma Town.
“Villages in the western part of Pakokku were submerged. When the Nat Inn River near Kanma Town surged, the water flooded the village. It is still raining heavily and we are staying at the upstairs of the house. It has been raining for two consecutive days, and the water started to flood at 3:30 p.m., today (May 14),” said a resident.
