NORTHERN SHAN STATE – TNLA reported that the junta council’s forces are firing heavy weapons at residential areas every day in Mo Meik township, Brigade (3) military area and Nawnghkio township, Brigade (2) military area, and the people are worried.
On June 3rd, the military council stationed in Kantaw village, Nawnghkio township, fired four rounds of heavy weapons towards Zeephyu Pin village, and in the evening of that day, the junta council fired four rounds of heavy weapons towards Manphway village, Moe Meik township.
“There, the junta council targets civilians and then attacks them. There is no direct contact between the two sides,” said TNLA information officer Loy Ye Oo.
It was reported that a junta council army’s weapon exploded near these villages. Although there was no damage, the people were informed that they were worried and had to evacuate.
On June 2nd, the TNLA announced that the military council troops stationed in Kankaw village, Nawnghkio district, were firing heavy weapons at the TNLA camp.
In addition, from May 29th to June 4th, heavy weapons were being fired at the village from the (223) and (248) regiments in Moe Meik Strategic hill. In addition, the Junta Council Army is stocking up on military equipment and filling up military personnel in and is preparing for war in Lashio, Kyaukme, Nawnghkio, Hsipaw, Muse and Moe Meik towns.
The three brotherhood alliances, including the TNLA, agree a cease-fire with the junta council in January 2024 with China’s intervention. TNLA spokesperson Loy Ye Oo said that after the ceasefire, they are monitoring the junta council attacks.
