SAGAING DIVISION – The monks of Myinmu Township joined the Pattanikkozzina Strike against the junta council on Saturday (June 29), becoming the twelfth township to join the protest.
Pattanikkozzina Strike (a form of protest unique to Buddhist monks where they deny religious services and cut off interactions) was first launched by the monks from Chaung U on June 23 and joined by monks from Pakokku, Salingyi, Tabayin, Sagaing, Taze, Monywa, Wetlet and Myaing Townships between June 24 and 28 while the monks from Myinmu, Budalin and Ayadaw Townships joined on June 29.
By conducting the Pattanikkozzina Strike, the monks made a united decision to cease all interactions with the terrorist junta council after junta forces shot dead the main patron of Winnammaitaryon Seminary, a former member of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.
