KACHIN STATE – A battle between the junta force and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) broke out after the junta soldiers near Japu Village, Waingmaw Township on Myitkyina- Bhamo Road started attacking on July 18 around noon, according to the locals.
“The junta soldiers stationed in Ka Tsu Village are also helping their force by firing artillery. They are trying to take their ration support vehicle which was captured the other day. And they’re forcing the locals to bring it for them,” said a source.
KIA side also used heavy artillery and there was also a clash near Namsangyang Village on Myitkyina- Bhamo Road.
The junta side has been penetrating with over hundreds of soldiers and firing heavy arms everyday so that the battle may take some days, according to KIO information and reports spokesperson Colonel Nawbu.
During the battle, the junta soldiers fired 15 times against Laiza Town and some of the artillery shells fired on July 8, 12 and 14 have reached China side.
Namsangyang Village was raided with force by the junta soldiers on July 2 and clashes continue for 17 days and still ongoing.
The locals of Namsangyang Village were forced to flee and Myitkyina- Bhamo Road was also blocked starting from July 3 due to the clashes.
