MYANMAR – The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of Britain has issued a statement again to give warning to British citizens not to travel to nine provinces in Myanmar.
FCDO advised against all travels to Mon, Kachin, Chin, Kayah and Karen states, Northern Rakhine State, Sagaing, and Magway divisions, and Northern Tanintharyi Division. It is also advised against all but essential travels to Shan State, Mandalay and Southern Tanintharyi Regions, Central Rakhine State including Sittwe District.
The security situation in Myanmar has been unpredictable and liable to change without notice. Across Myanmar, there has been significant numbers of violent attacks, including shootings and IEDs since a coup in February 2021. Attacks, including Yangon and Naypyidaw, are primarily targeted military or regime-affiliated locations such as government buildings and checkpoints. FCDO advised to check entry requirements for Myanmar’s current entry restrictions and requirements before traveling.
FCDO warned that there is conflict and significant violence across Myanmar involving aerial strikes, artillery bombardments, landmines and armed conflicts. While normal daily life is resumed in many urban centers, but political tensions are increased and shootings and explosions continues. There are attacks to businesses affiliated to the military, increasing attacks at Yangon-Mandalay expressway and old Yangon-Mandalay Road.
