LAO PDR – In Golden Triangle Border, it was learned that 17 Myanmar nationals working in the casino city were accused by the junta council of supporting the revolution and then informed the Lao police and asked to arrest them.
According to a Burmese source in Laos, 13 men and 4 women working in Laos were arrested on April 13th, the eve of Thingyan Day, by Lao authorities, and they were handed over to the Burmese junta army on the afternoon of May 3rd through the Mekong River.
“Yesterday, I saw that it was sent after crossing the Mekong River. When I got to the Burmese side, I heard that they sent them to Keng Tung by putting black clothes on heads on the car and sent them all at once. When I checked at night, I heard that a girl had died,” he said.
Previously, the junta council had requested the Thai side through the Border Committee (TBC) meetings to arrest those they wanted, but since there is no border committee with Laos, there were no requests to arrest the accused. Regional (RBG) meetings were usually held in Keng Tung the Lao military and the Myanmar military meet.
Over 50,000 Burmese workers have been working since 2006 in the casino business zone in the Golden Triangle area on the other side of the Mekong River in Laos.
In Laos, they live in a village named Rakhine Village, and they work in the hotel business, construction, and restaurants.
