KAREN STATE – According to the local residents, the combination of the junta council polices and the ward administration sealed off the houses from ward 1, 3, 4 and 5 in Myawaddy town, Karen state on the morning of May 9.
At around 9 a.m., the ward administrative officers of ward 4 and four policemen from Myawaddy police station had come and hanged a vinyl at the fence of a yard, including a two-story log house on Pyi Khaing Phyo road, in ward 4, Myawaddy town, which is stated that the house was being sealed off under counter terrorism law 52(A).
Four fully armed policemen had come by a car and sealed off a 30-feet-long, 15-feet-width, two-story building on A Deik Than Aung 2 road, in ward 3. They also sealed off a two-story building on Malika road, in ward 5 that under construction.
A resident mentioned that “they had come by a police car. Two administrative officers were also come along with the police car. They hanged the sealing off vinyls at a house in ward 4 and a two-story building in ward 3. It has been so long that there was no inhabitant at those houses.”
It was known that the houses that were sealed off are the houses of the people who were prosecuted by the junta council for the anti-coup activities and they were prosecuted under counter terrorism law 52 (A) and (J).
On the afternoon of May 9, Sapel Oo guest house, a three-story building, was sealed off under Ma Ma Sa (Myawaddy) (U) 98/2023, counter terrorism law 50 (J) and (F).
