KAREN STATE – The 3rd KNU Brigade announced that “A Myeik Technological University student serving in the 9th Battalion was killed in the battle to capture the military council gate camp in Natthamkwing City.”
The student who died was 24-year-old Ko Kaung Htet San (alias Comrade Brathon). He was a third-year mechanical engineering student before the military took over and was an executive of the Myeik Technological University’s Students’ Union.
According to Myeik Technological University’s Students’ Union, he was killed yesterday around 5:30 a.m. in the battle to capture the Ohn Hnae Pin Gate Camp of the Junta Council Army in Natthamkwing township, Kyaukgyi district, Bago Division.
A spokesman for the Revolutionary Steering Committee said, “During the battle, he was shot and killed. We are currently in contact with his family. We are going to continue the process of remediation and recognition,” Myeik Technological University’s Students’ Union added.
The spokesman said that the fallen soldier Brathon continued to be active as a member of the Myeik Technological University’s Students’ Union Revolutionary Steering Committee at the beginning of the military coup, and at the same time, he was carrying out armed resistance duties.
Ko Kung Htet San was the first student at Myeik Technological University who fell during the dictatorial revolution. It is reported that there are at least five prisoners who were arrested at Myeik Technological University.
The KNLA Special Commando Battalion issued a press release this morning saying that “the military council forces and the PDF joint forces had a fierce battle to take over the gate camp in Nattham Kwin City. Eight terrorist soldiers were skilled from the junta council forces and seized weapons and ammunition.”
The Daung Min Column and the Burmese Muslim Revolutionary Forces announced that 18-year-old Comrade Thatti (alias Ko Bobo Tun) of the Daung Min Column, which was assembled with the People’s Defense Forces from Yangon and Bago divisions, was also killed in the battle to capture the Ohn Hnae Pin Gate Camp.
At the beginning of this month, the revolutionary forces also raided Mone in Kyaukgyi township and attacked the military council battalions.
