TANINTHARYI DIVISON -The Myeik District People’s Defense Force announces that civilians using the Pyidaungsu Road should not be travelling between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting May 12.
The junta council troops have been
hijacking the civilians’ vehicles or sometimes using them as shields in front of their convoy while travelling on Pyidaungsu Road.
“Whenever we did a mission against the junta troops, we avoided any act that could harm civilians. So, I requested the civilians to keep a distance from the junta convoy when travelling,” said the spokesperson of Myeik PDF.
Lately, the junta council has been reinforcing and deploying its troops in Tanintharyi, but no clashes have occurred.
A few days ago, a junta convoy passing on Pyidaungsu Road was mined near Banlamon Village, and a civilian vehicle following the convoy was reportedly hit by the blast.
Therefore, the PDF issued warnings and also requested that travellers roll down their windows and not cover the back of trucks with rainproof canvas (unless it rains) while travelling on Pyidaungsu Highway Road.
