MAGWAY DIVISION – An official from Pakokku People’s Defence Force (PPDF) reported that at least four people including IDP children attending classes were killed and more than 20 were injured in the terrorist junta council’s airstrike targeting Kan Myint Kone Monastery in Myaing Township.
The terrorist junta council carried out two airstrikes on the monastery located at the border of Myaing Township and Pakokku Township around 9 a.m. on Wednesday (June 5).
“Two bombs were dropped on the building where displaced children were attending classes. There were bodies blown apart and dismembered body parts blasted onto roofs, such terrible deaths. So far there were four reported deaths last night (June 4) but some said there were five. Because the airstrike happened while school was in session, there were kids in green pants (school uniform), it was truly terrible,” said the PPDF official.
A young boy around four years old, a 60 year old woman and two more women were said to have been killed in said airstrike by the terrorist junta council. They were buried around 4 p.m. the same day but it is said that the dead bodies couldn’t be recovered as they were blown apart in the blast and the body parts had to be buried based on the colour of the clothes.
In addition, it is reported that while the burial was going on, the terrorist junta forces at Kantawkone Village fired two shells towards the cemetery. At present, civilians from Kan Myint Kone Village as well as nearby villages are reported to be fleeing their homes and in need of assistance.
