MAGWAY DIVISION – Junta terrorists set fire to two houses and two motorcycles in Saigaung Village in southern Myaing Township on September 28 around 10 a.m.
Around 70 junta forces entered Saigaung Village and carried out the arson attacks after spending the previous night at Dahatchauk Village which is about a mile from Saigaung Village.
“We are not yet clear if they picked specific houses to set on fire or just torched the houses at random as we haven’t entered the villager to do a sweep. When scouting with a drone, we saw that one house was still ablaze while another had been burned down,” said an official from Spring Revolution Myaing.
The official continued that after setting fire to the houses in Saigaung Village, junta forces entered Nyaungdwin (east) Village around two miles away and ransacked the houses in the village.
He added, “When using drone to observe, we saw some of them going around the village on bicycles and some of them breaking into and ransacking the houses.”
Although defence forces used drones to bomb the junta forces inside Nyaungdwin (east) Village around 1 p.m. on September 28, the attack reportedly didn’t deal much damage.
Since said junta column entered Pakokku District, at least ten villages in Myaing Township had been forced to flee. It has now been over three days since the residents have been on the run.
This is the third time junta forces set fire to Saigaung Village which has around 300 houses. The first junta arson attack on September 18, 2022 destroyed five houses and the next arson attack on September 19, 2022 destroyed 40 houses.
