MYANMAR – The National Unity Government (NUG) Acting President Duwa Lashi La sent a letter of condolences, expressing sadness for the death of Venerable Baddantta Munnidabiwuntha, the head monk of Winnammaitaryon Monastery in Bago and a former member of the Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee who passed away due to the intentional shooting by junta forces on the Nganzun-Myothar Road section in Mandalay Division on June 19.
The acting president mentioned that he is especially sad as the venerable monk was a respected teacher of Buddhism who worked hard for the betterment of the religion.
The letter also seriously condemned the junta council and said that the junta forces blatantly and openly killing Buddhist monks was an insult to the entire Buddhism, and then lying and putting the blame on the PDF forces was adding more insult to the monks as well as the people.
“All responsible people for this deceit from the junta council must be fully held accountable,” said Acting President Duwa Lashi La.
The acting president vowed to work together with all religions and the entire population for the complete eradication of military dictatorship as similar tragedies will continue to happen as long as the regime of the terrorist junta council continues.
