RAKHINE STATE – Yaw Defence Force (YDF) based in Yaw Region of Magway Division announced on Friday (January 12) that they are battling alongside the Arakan Army (AA) in Rakhine State.
YDF bravely battled alongside the allied forces and gained battle experience in the second week of December, 2023 during the battle to capture Taungshay Hill Tactical Camp in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State.
YDF also thanked the Arakan Army for allowing them to take part in said battle.
The battle to capture Taungshay Hill Tactical Camp lasted for three weeks and AA successfully captured the entire camp on January 6, 2024. YDF is said to have enthusiastically taken part in the operation till the end.
The information officer from YDF revealed that they “will continue to take part in battles alongside AA.”
Meanwhile in northern Shan State, the Three Brotherhood Alliance and the junta council agreed on a ceasefire under mediation by the Chinese government on January 12, the 78th day of Operation 1027.
The two sides agreed for the Three Brotherhood Alliance to stop advancing in northern Shan State and the junta council to stop conducting air and artillery attacks on the 17 towns and over 500 military camps lost to the alliance.
