TANINTHAYI DIVISION – Residents said that the soldiers of the junta council set fire to the uninhabited houses in Ya Nge village on Friday (June 16) morning after the whole village fled because of the entry of the junta army column.
It was initially known that at least four houses in the Inn Bu section in the village were set on fire at around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
“The first two buildings have been burnt to ashes. The other two buildings are also burning. The smoke can be seen from far away,” said a local woman.
Locals said that more houses are being set on fire. The details are still under investigation.
The junta council column entered Ya Nge Village on the 8th of this month and burned down some of the residents’ homes.
At least four houses were burned down on June 16, and as two houses were set on fire previously on June 11, at least six houses have been destroyed during the 9 days that the junta column entered the village.
“They are still around the village of Ya Nge. The strength is estimated to be around 40,” the information official of Daung Min Force said.
In the village of Ya Nge, as the entire village was forced to flee from the war, the junta council soldiers ransacked and destroyed the houses and shops in the village where there were no owners. It is also reported that they had looted valuable goods, cars and motorcycles.
Due to the movement of junta council troops and the fighting between the two sides, the residents of 11 villages, including Kanethiri and Ya Nge Villages, have fled their homes.
