YANGON DIVISION – It is reported that South Okkalarpa Police Station commander; Deputy Police Chief Lin Lin Tun, who was seriously injured after being shot by Private Arkar Soe, died on the night of July 27 while receiving medical treatment.
On July 18, around 8:30 p.m. while Station Chief Lin Lin Tun was sitting at the crime officer’s desk after allocating security patrols duty, Private Arkar Soe complained about being appointed for two rotations of patrols and demanded that he receive only one shift. But, the Station Chief neglected him and just said that all the policemen are performing external security duties and special attention must be paid on duty as it was an important day, and they started quarreling.
After that, Private Arkar Soe shot at the Deputy Police Chief with an M-16 gun. The bullet pierced Officer Lin Lin Tun’s right cheek and he suffered a life-threatening injury due to a broken jaw. He was transferred to Yangon General Hospital (from initial treatment at North Oakkalapa Hospital) where he reportedly passed away. The culprit, Private Arkar Soe, is reportedly detained at the South Oakkalarpa police station.
“Station commandar, Deputy Police Chief Lin Lin Tun passed away on July 27 and would be cremated on July 29,” reported a source close to South Oakkalarpa Police Station.
