AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – The locals said that in Yaykyi Township, the house of Administrator Kyaw Myint who was recruiting people under the junta military service law was attacked and his son was stabbed and injured.
On April 12 night, anonymous people with knives entered the house of Administrator Kyaw Myint of Thandin Village, Yaykyi Township while he (administrator) was having dinner inside the house and his son was using his phone in front of the house. His son was stabbed and is said to be in a serious condition. As his condition couldn’t be handled by Yaykyi General hospital, he was transferred to Palate General hospital and was placed in an emergency ward.
“It was a knife attack and they couldn’t find out who the attackers were. The attackers crossed over the fence of the administrator’s house and the administrator’s son who was using phone was stabbed. We heard that he isn’t in good condition and is placed in ICU. They (anonymous people with knives) may be targeting the administrator but he was inside the house and didn’t come out,” said a local.
Following the attack, junta police and soldiers came to village and abducted people they suspect.
Thandin Village Administrator Kyaw Myint and his clerk Aung Ko Naing have been causing mental distress to the villagers and said that they will make all the villagers serve in the army by drawing lots with no exemption.
