SAGAING DIVISION – Junta council soldiers who arrived at Depayin Township launched an offensive in villages located in Ye-U Township by firing heavy artillery shells. This forced tens of thousands of civilians from 15 villages to flee.
The junta column moved from Ywar Mate Tha Village in the west of Ye-U Township towards Ngayote Tone Village.
Approximately tens of thousands of civilians from Ma Soe Yein, Chon, Kyee Kone, Zee Kone, Kone Tha, Chan Tha, Ywar Thit, Ywar Mate Tha, Muu Son, Hnaw Kone, Zawa, Kone Gyi, Kone Tan, Mote Si, and Ngayote Tone Village are reportedly fleeing.
“The junta forces retraced their steps back to the west of Ye-U Township toward Depayin. Villages unable to escape with the junta column or heavy artillery shells are fleeing as well. Presently, the junta column is heading to Ngayote Tone toddy palm forest from Ywar Mate Tha,” explained Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Mother’s Son), an official of Ye-U Township People’s Defense Comrade.
