MON STATE – The spokesperson Captain Yan Naing of Yay People’s Defense Force (Northern Unit) stated that their outpost in Yay Township, Mon State was attacked twice by junta forces; on Sunday night (May 7) and the next morning (May 8).
“Last night (May 7) around 11:53 p.m. junta dropped two aerial bombs and around 11:45 a.m. on May 8, they strafed our campsite. Since we receive news about the incoming attack in the morning there were no causalities. But in the aerial bomb attack last night, one PDF member died on the spot, and two others passed away later due to excessive bleeding. There is also an unblasted bomb remain in our area,” said the spokesperson.
Junta scouting helicopters that flew around the area four to five days ago might have found out their outpost and made the attack, stated the spokesperson.
“There are helicopters and jets flying around the town almost every day and night. Although there are no ongoing clashes between the junta and local PDFs these days, we still feel anxious about the sounds of aircrafts,” said a local.
In the northern part of Yay Township, junta forces and PDFs have frequent clashes, and junta troops were reportedly facing losses.
