TANINTHARYI DIVISION – In Dawei District, Launglon Local People’s Defence Force (LLPDF) reportedly attacked three military campsites and killed six members of the junta army. Two revolutionary members had also fallen during those attacks, stated an official of LLPDF.
On December 20, around 6:00 a.m., the military council troops from Launglon leaving for Thabyar Village were intercepted by resistance forces, and there had been an exchange of fire, stated the LLPDF officer.
“While preparing for an interception attack, we encountered them. There were around 30 soldiers on their side. There was an exchange of fire and we fell back as two of our members were killed,” the LLPDF officer told the media.
“During the clash, two soldiers from LLPDF, Comrade Thanchayhtauk, and Comrade Kappali, were killed and two M16 guns were lost,” the official added.
The military army put the bodies of the two fallen PDFs into a house near the battle site and tried to conceal them by burning down the house, but the bodies of the fallen were recovered, LLPDF announced.
At about 4:30 p.m. on the same day (December 20), LLPDF attacked the military affairs office and Launglon High School compound where the military council troops were stationed.
“In the evening attack, six soldiers were injured and killed. We are still investigating to confirm the details,” said the official from LLPDF about the offensive attack.
In the attacks on the military office and school compound, some junta soldiers stationed at the school ran away and 50 M16 bullets, a knife, and some personal items were reportedly seized.
