TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Junta council soldiers launched an offensive in Launglon Township, set fire to Kampani Village, and abducted civilians as hostages, said an official of Launglon People’s Defence Force (PDF).
On November 9, clashes occurred between PDF comrades and junta forces that launched an offensive in Launglon Township. Subsequently, the junta council reinforced their strengths and set fire to Kampani Village on Friday (November 10). Currently, the junta column is at Myaw Yit Pagoda.
Thousands of civilians from Kyauk Sin, Tha Bawt Seik, Pyin Gyi, Karen Gyi and Kampani Villages in Launglon Township are currently fleeing to safety.
On November 8, junta soldiers abducted civilians from those villages as hostages, and some managed to escape.
“The junta forces reinforced their strengths and launched an offensive after yesterday’s (November 9) clashes. They set fire to civilian houses in Kampani Village and are heading to Myaw Yit Pagoda. The details couldn’t be confirmed as the clashes are still happening,” said an official.
