KARENNI STATE – Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) released an official statement on November 20 night that non-CDM teachers, staff, and their families who were initially abandoned by junta forces a d stuck inside the Loikaw University compound during Operation 1111 and were later rescued by the KNDF column that entered and attacked the military council troops stationing at the university.
The military council army dropped aerial bombs and continuously shot heavy weapons towards the clash zone (vicinity of Loikaw University) during Operation 1111. The staff and families of the aforementioned Loikaw University and Industrial University, altogether 204 people, were rescued and transported to safety by KNDF when the junta heavy weapons attack had subsided a little.
Humanitarian assistance was provided to the Non-CDM employees and family members of Loikaw University following the human rights and regulations of the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC). IEC has kept them safe and secure, and will continue to work to ensure that families can be reunited soon, stated the KNDF Central News and Information Department in the announcement.
